Photos of a recent life
Back to the routine of writing and reading for my thesis. It's the middle of October but it's still 29ºc in Lisbon. I've been going on hikes. I did this one with a friend in the morning. We did a 4 hour hike around Sintra. I took these pics.

Coincidentally, a week later I went again to do almost the same hike, but this time during night time, in pitch black. Me and my gf went with a friend on a group hike with a guide that does night time trips. We did almost all of the route in pitch black, with overcast weather, and very windy. The mountain becomes very mystical in these conditions. We heard an eagle-owl, and had a close encounter with a wild boar.
Naturally, I have no pictures from this trip. Here's an abandoned hermitage where we stopped for a break in the night trip. Very spooky!

Reading
I'm reading Saramago's The Cavern, which is kind of a slogfest so far. I'm also reading Frankenstein and Annihilation by Vandermeer, both for book clubs later in the month.
Listening
Since I've ditched Spotify, I've been trying to get back to listening to Albums. I try to give priority to two or three per week. This week I'm listening to:
- Tyler the Creator's Don't Tap the Glass
- Σtella's Adagio
- Ninajirachi's I love my computer
Projects
I'm also having my translation of Daphnis and Chloe published, and I'm in the reviewing phase. I'm also preparing a translation of Triphiodorus and Colluthus' poems as a book, one being a prequel, and another a sequel, to the Iliad.
Languages
I'm always juggling a bunch of languages, so this actually helps me keep in mind what's the priority. I'm actively studying (by order of most studied to least studied): Ancient Greek, Latin, Italian, Japanese, French, Modern Greek, German. I rotate them, with more intense periods for some and keeping others on the backburner.
Ancient Greek
I've been slacking on this lately. I've been translating some epyllia from Late Antiquity (Colluthus' Rape of Helen, and Triphiodorus' Sack of Troy), and it's been a bit of a slug, I need a refresher on vocabulary. I'm interested in translating some Homeric stuff, so I'm making the commitment of rereading the Odyssey in Ancient Greek. I will update here as I go
Modern Greek
Found a Greek friend willing to give me bi-weekly classes. It's been great!
